Charles Novia compares Omotola and Genevieve's acting skills...
While congratulating Omotola for her National Award honour which she received yesterday, movie producer and opinionated writer Charles Novia compared Omotola and Genevieve's acting skills, saying Omotola has more depth in acting than Genevieve. Read below and see if you agree with him.
Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde is known to many. Her acting prowess is arguably in a class by itself and her being nominated as one of the world's 100 most influential persons by TIME magazine a couple of years back must have paved the way for her present national recognition by the Federal Government. Frankly speaking, I personally think she has more depth in acting than her 'rival' Genevieve Nnaji. I have worked with both of them in the past and also studied their acting styles. Omotola has the gift of role immersion. She gives everything into her characters. There is an organic style of interpretation she is gifted with. Very few actors have that. She Is not a Method Actor, mind you but she has delivered roles which many method actors would give her a standing ovation for.

Anita Oyakhilome's name & pic removed from Rhapsody of Realities
Anita Oyakhilome has been excluded from the newly released October-2014

The devotional, which was started many years ago by the now estranged
couple, usually had both their pictures and writings in the pages, but
in this new 31-page edition, there's not one pic or article attributed
to Pastor Anita, just pastor Chris.
Also, the back cover of the magazine which usually had a picture of the couple now has only Pastor Chris on it. See the exclusive pics after the cut...

Real reason Jim Iyke dumped me, Ex-fiancee opens up!
She sounded absolutely distraught, and utterly disconsolate. Her usual exuberance, the bonhomie which she wears like a badge of honor was missing both in her voice and in her demeanor. She was inconsolable, pained and emotionally devastated. She had every reason to feel that way.
For over six years, she had given her all to a romance that had been celebrated, touted and written about as one that was made in heaven. For six years, they had projected the image of a blissfully happy couple that could do no wrong.
Her boyfriend of six years– the one that is famously referred to as the ‘Nollywood bad boy’, Jim Iyke has finally acted out his moniker and it is not pretty at all.

Lagos schools may not reopen Sept 22, says Fashola
Despite the
Federal Government’s insistence on September 22 resumption date for
schools, indications emerged yesterday, that Lagos State Government
might not respect the date.
Governor Babatunde Fashola gave this hint when he received the Country Representative of the World Health Organization, Mr. Rui Van Gaz who paid him a courtesy visit in his office.
According to him,” The state government is in the process of ascertaining through scientific risk evaluation, whether it will accept the date announced by the Federal Government.”
He added that if evaluation showed that children would be at risk on resumption, Lagos schools would not open on September 22.
At the time of this report, members of the State Executive Council, SEC, and other stakeholders’ especially private schools operators, were still locked in the crucial meeting.
Earlier, Mr. Van Gaz, said the entire leadership of WHO commended Governor Fashola and his team for their efforts at containing of Ebola virus.
He urged the state government to avoid being complacent due to the apparent drop in the number of Ebola cases, saying the war had not been won until the virus was entirely wiped out.
According to him, “On schools resumption, we need to ensure that the schools are fully prepared in terms of availability of water, soaps and sanitizers. The teachers must be fully aware of what needed to be done when they are faced with any suspected case of Ebola Virus Disease, EVD in their school. The students must be enlightened about the symptoms of the deadly disease.
“Even though the number of Ebola cases has reduced and most of the contacts are out of the 21-day quarantine, we should avoid any complacency. Until the last case is over and surveillance completed, we should not relent in the effort at tackling the disease. We need to learn from this experience by not only dealing with the disease but to strengthen the entire health system in the country.”
In another development, the new state Police Commissioner, Mr. Kayode Aderanti yesterday called on the state government and other stakeholders to team up with the Police to ensure protection of lives and property.
Aderanti who spoke after a closed-door meeting with governor, Fashola, however vowed to end gang wars and other security challenges in the state.
According to him, “I want to move the Police forward and I want it to be community-based. I want to break the barrier between the Police and the public. I intend to reach out to the stakeholders in security. I want this state to be one of the best in terms of security. I know that this is the commercial nerve centre of the country, with a lot of private based industry. I have assured the governor that I will do more to ensure that the state is safe always. I know that there is a nexus between the level of crime and foreign direct investment in every part of the country.”

Oscar Pistorius found guilty of manslaughter
Yesterday Oscar Pistorius was found not guilty of premeditated murder
and second degree murder because according to the judge, his conduct
after the shooting was 'inconsistent' with someone who intended to
commit murder. But he has been found guilty of manslaughter this
morning. The judge said he acted negligently when he fired shots into
the toilet door. The question now is, will he be jailed for
manslaughter?
*He was also found not guilty of the first firearm charge - (firing a gun through the roof of his car)
*He was found not guilty of the third firearm charge (unlawfully possessing 38 rounds of ammunition at his home without having a license).
*He was found guilty of the second firearm charge. He discharged a weapon in a public place, a restaurant called Tashas and asked his friend to take the blame. The judge says Oscar was sufficiently trained in the use of firearms, so should not have asked for a firearm in a public place
Lindaikeji also reported that the judge said no one submitted that there was an intention to pull the trigger, but that does not absolve him of the crime of negligently handling a firearm. Will Oscar walk?

The Differences Between The Boy You Date and The Man You Marry
When you’re dating a guy, it’s easy to think he’s perfect. You’re in a love haze, so be careful because there are definite differences between the boy you date and the man you marry. It’s true that people can change, you’re young and having fun at this point in your life, it’s okay to date around and have flings, but before long you’re going to want to settle down, so make sure you do it with a quality man, not an immature boy.
1. The boy you date asks you to “hang out,” which involves less commitment than a date. He wants to have fun with no strings attached.
2. The man you marry asks you out on dates and is clear about his intentions with you. He wants to be with you and wants you to know where you’re headed.
3. The boy you date talks with you about people you know from your past, or pokes fun at that guy at the bar, or only shares funny stories because he can’t connect on a deeper level.

Oscar Pistorius may be found guilty of manslaughter; what the judge said
The judge didn't find Oscar Pistorius guilty of murder but from what she said this afternoon, it looks like she's planning to find him guilty of manslaughter. Whether it will carry a prison sentence remains to be seen. Below are some of the things judge Masipa said this afternoon;
*He was negligent
*He could have run to the balcony and screamed. He could have called security.
*He was reckless, acted in haste and used excessive force
*He had other options but chose to use a loaded gun
*He could have run to the balcony and called for help like he did after the shooting
*He could have called for help in less time it took to shoot through the door.
*He had reasonable time to reflect and think
There was no explanation why Oscar didn't call security before arming himself and going to the bathroom.

Judge finds Oscar Pistorius not guilty of murder
Judge Masipa has read much of her judgement and she's just found Oscar Pistorius not guilty of murder. The judge said there were not enough facts to prove the most serious charge of pre-meditated murder. She said the case was based entirely on circumstantial evidence and dismissed the witness testimony. She said the witnesses were unreliable as they were confused when giving testimony and said most of what they said weren't accurate. She said even if Oscar was evasive with some facts, and was a 'very poor' witness, it doesn't mean he's guilty of murder.

The Things Women Should ALWAYS Do In Private
Some things are just not meant to be shared with the world.
Here is a line I heard yesterday from a very pretty woman in her late twenties while waiting for my Cappuccino at a local Starbucks:
“Things between Robert and me heated rather quickly. Within three months, we were not only moved in with each other but I was already going to the bathroom in front of him.”
To borrow a line from South Park: “What, What, Whaaat??” Believe me, I understand what the young lady was trying to relay: she was trying to explain that the feelings between her and Robert were deeper than mere attraction. They loved and trusted each other enough to perform otherwise private functions in front of each other. I get it.
The question is

House of Reps want Sept 22 schools' resumption date changed
The House of Representatives want the September 22nd school resumption date for private and public primary/secondary changed.
According to Punch, the Reps explained yesterday that it had directed its Committee on Education to take “another look” at the date in view of the fact that the outbreak of the Ebola Virus Disease in the country had yet to be fully contained.
The Deputy Chairman, House Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Mr. Victor Ogene, who conveyed the position of the House in Abuja, said there was still apprehension among parents and guardians over the Federal Government’s decision to change the earlier resumption date of October 13 to September 22.

Chris Oyakhilome speaks on divorce; says media is writing stupid things
He said he was not accused of the things (the media) said, and neither did he 'commit' those 'stupid' things (the media) said. And he asked people to pray for his wife because she made a mistake. For those who can't view the video, continue to read what he said...
"I understand that some media houses particularly in Nigeria and maybe in South Africa have been writing some real stupid things. Frivolous charges...that's crazy.
